A Rich History of Healthcare in Murray County

MCMC Throughout the years

Murray County’s healthcare journey is a testament to the community’s commitment to health and well-being. It began over 160 years ago with Dr. Brown who provided care in 1862.

The early 20th century marked significant milestones in the county’s healthcare history. Dr. H.C. Doms and Dr. L.A. Williams established the Slayton Home Hospital in 1915. The Home Hospital served the community for many years, including training nurses.

The construction of the Murray County Memorial Hospital in 1950 was a pivotal moment for Murray County. The state-of-the-art facility provided advanced medical care to the community. Over the years, the hospital has undergone numerous expansions and renovations to keep pace with evolving healthcare needs. The most recent renovation was completed in 2013.

Today, Murray County Medical Center continues its legacy of providing quality healthcare to the community. With a focus on patient-centered care, the facility offers a range of services to allow the residents of Murray County to get compassionate care right in their community.

By combining tradition with innovation, Murray County Medical Center is dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of the community for generations to come.
