OUTDOOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT PROJECT FOR MURRAY COUNTY

The Murray County Medical Center Foundation recognizes that physical inactivity is a growing concern in rural communities and contributes to higher rates of chronic diseases such as diabetes, as well as increased mental health challenges. The Outdoor Fitness Equipment Project was developed to directly address these barriers by providing safe, accessible, and engaging fitness opportunities for Murray County residents.

We are working to bring two sites to Murray County: Lake Wilson and Slayton.

The project removes barriers such as cost, accessibility, and limited program options in rural areas. The intended outcomes of the project include improved physical health, enhanced mental wellness, stronger community connections, and help Murray County be a community that prioritizes healthy living.

As the project has progressed, we've secured an opportunity to partner with a company that has previously worked with our community and is offering a significant savings on fitness equipment. This opportunity allows us to stretch donor dollars further and potentially bring this project to life sooner.
