OUTDOOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT PROJECT FOR MURRAY COUNTY

The Murray County Medical Center Foundation recognizes that physical inactivity is a growing concern in rural communities and contributes to higher rates of chronic diseases such as diabetes, as well as increased mental health challenges. The Outdoor Fitness Equipment Project was developed to directly address these barriers by providing safe, accessible, and engaging fitness opportunities for Murray County residents.

These sites are designed by KOMPAN for individuals aged 13 through seniors and accommodate a wide range of fitness levels. The project removes barriers such as cost, accessibility, and limited program options in rural areas.

The intended outcomes of the project include improved physical health, enhanced mental wellness, stronger community connections, and help Murray County be a community that prioritizes healthy living.

We are currently raising funds for this project to be able to install a fitness site in Slayton, MN and Lake Wilson, MN. Our efforts currently include seeking donations from community members and local businesses, fundraising events, and grant applications. Once we have enough funds to move forward with this project, we will work with KOMPAN on purchasing and installing these sites.
