When you think of preventable health care or regular checkups, you might think those are only for kids. However, the importance of regular checkups spans a lifetime.
Healthy adults generally should have a once a year "Physical" or checkup with their provider to monitor vitals, weight, update vaccinations, discuss mental health, diet and sleep. It’s also a good time to talk about important screenings like mammograms, colonoscopies, fasting lab work, and STI screenings.
If you are an adult with chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, and heart disease, your provider may recommend more frequent visits. Typically, chronic health conditions require monitoring, every 3-6 months, to assess changes in your condition, and to keep you as healthy as possible. Many of these conditions require medications. These medications need to be monitored for side effects and to make sure they are still the right choice for you.
As an adult, checkups are important for your health and longevity.
Murray County Medical Cener is here to help you prioritize health for you and your family!
