Rural Minnesota HealthCare Options

Living in rural Minnesota offers a peaceful lifestyle and close-knit communities. However, accessing quality healthcare can sometimes be a challenge. Don’t let distance be a barrier to your health. Murray County Medical Center (MCMC) is your local healthcare partner, offering a wide range of services to meet your needs.

One of the major barriers that we face here in southern Minnesota is the distance and transportation that can come up when searching for specialists and places to receive testing. We offer numerous services and outreach opportunities that many people don’t even realize we have. So, let’s dive deeper into what you can all have done right here in Slayton, MN, potentially saving yourself gas money.

We have a clinic that’s staffed with seven providers for acute care needs, primary care needs, DOT physicals, and minor surgical services. Our providers are all family medicine providers, but they each have different special interests so there’s a good fit for every patient. Providers

You can have your lab work completed onsite as needed instead of driving to another healthcare facility. If you need x-rays, a CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, bone scan, and/or mammogram, we can complete all this onsite in our radiology department. You can also be seen for diabetic education, complete a sleep study, get treated for wounds, and so much more. Completing these tests and services right here in Murray County often means you may get your results faster. Services

One of the things we strive to accomplish is to provide the most options for our patients, which is why we have numerous outreach providers that come to Slayton on a routine basis. The specialties that come here include vascular, urology, OB, general surgery, cardiology, ophthalmology, behavioral health, orthopedic surgery, pulmonology, and nephrology. Most of our outreach services are here at least once a month, some even coming a few times a month. Outreach

MCMC offers many advanced care options here in our hospital including inpatient care, emergency services, and skilled swing bed. This allows you to recover more efficiently, without traveling far. Our on-site surgical center also provides general, orthopedic, and ophthalmology surgeries. Regarding our surgery center, one patient shared their experience. “My visit and my procedure and everything was marvelous. The nurses took very good care of me. I’ve gone to this facility many times and I’ve never had a bad experience. So this is great. You got an A plus from me.”

At the end of the day, there are numerous barriers we face in rural Minnesota, but the benefits tend to outweigh the cons for many of us who chose to live here. Reach out to us today to see how we could help you in your healthcare journey.
