We can measure quality in healthcare by looking at different measures of care. How many surgical site infections occur each year, how are the patient experience scores, or how many falls with injury have occurred in the past year? These are just a few of the measures that are tracked by hospital Quality departments across the country in an effort to see these obstacles and work toward solutions.
One continued effort of Murray County Medical Center is evidence-based care of patients with heart failure. MCMC has teamed with the American Heart Association in a program called Get With the Guidelines to track care of hospitalized heart failure patients. Some of the goals for these patients include appropriate medications at discharge, follow-up appointment at discharge scheduled, and at least 60 minutes of heart failure education while hospitalized. Tracking this progress allows our healthcare providers to see where there are opportunities for improvement in care and with continued tracking, providers can see the benefits of their care.
At Murray County Medical Center, quality is a top priority to make sure our patients receive the safest, best care possible.
