Summer in Murray County brings no shortage of fun—from boating at Lake Shetek, to long days at the fairgrounds, to Fourth of July fireworks celebrations. As an Emergency Room nurse, all of these seasonal favorites have one thing in common: they can also lead to unexpected trips to the ER.
The good news is that a few simple precautions can help keep you and your family safe, healthy, and enjoying everything summer has to offer.
Water Safety
Whether you’re spending the day at the lake or pool, water safety should always come first:
Heat-Related Illnesses
Summer heat can quickly become dangerous, especially for vulnerable groups.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion:
High body temperature, pale or clammy skin, headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, or vomiting.
If you or a loved one develops these symptoms:
